Christmas Card - Sponge A Scene

I always wanted to try to create a landscape scene on a card, this is quite a large card being 9 inches long but I really enjoyed the techniques used to create this scene. I know my Dad will appreciate this type of Christmas Card being the creative soul he is and loving a challenge. It was a difficult card to photograph, I think this is because  of the sponging technique that was used in the tutorial. I prefer to use my dauber and sponge in a very soft circular motion. I find it a lot easier to add more color as with the darker colors it makes it harder to blend if you use a heavy hand.

Here is the Tutorial for this type of card by Carol Gatton, you will see what I mean with her sponging she seems to do it quite heavily in the centre where I prefer a soft circular motion hardly touching the cardstock, I find this leaves a lot softer finished look.

Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop

Welcome back to my blog ladies and gents, this month's theme for the Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop is
" Seeing 3D"  I just love a challenge. So for this month I have decided to do a Easel Gift Box Christmas Display Card as I plan to give this to my Mother In Law for her Christmas Card this year. I made her a Bendi Fold Card for her birthday last month and she will love to display this one when it is Christmas Time. I did make one of these last Christmas and taught it in a craft workshop and it was very popular. I do have the template in a Word Document if you are interested in receiving it please email me at bobby59@live.com.au I would love to see what you create!! Everyone one I do is different and you can do any theme.

Global Design Project #GDP012 "Case The Designer"

I thought I would use the colors Brian King has used on his card and make mine something completely different and make a Sympathy Card. It's amazing just using the same colors how much difference your card can look like. Thank you Global Design Project for these challenges, they are taking me out of my comfort zone and making me use colors together that I normally wouldn't. Thank you to Julie Davidson  for this inspiration of this style flip card. I will be making many more.

Check out all the Designer's Projects to be inspired over at Global Design Project and remember to put in a entry!!

Faux Illusion

I have seen this "Faux Illusion" technique done a few different ways and so I have tried it and it does look quite effective on the finished card. Here is the Faux Illusion Technique Tutorial by France Martin. I did mine a little differently but has the same effect. I stamped the trees  directly onto the embossing folder, then placed a piece of Soft Sky Cardstock in the embossing folder and put it through my Big Shot. Then using a dauber and Whisper White ink I  rubbed it into the raised trees on the cardstock. I find using a dauber is a lot more precise and you are less likely to get ink on your card.

Global Design Project #GDP011 - Christmas Theme

I have really surprised myself this year having all my Christmas Cards ready to post on the 1st December, so thought I would share one with you all with the Christmas Theme at the  Global Design Team Challenge for this week - Christmas Theme.

With this particular Christmas Themed Card I have embossed the Shimmery White Cardstock with the lovely Softly Falling Embossing Folder, I then used the Delicate Ornaments Framelits and have cut out the centre ornament shape and then using dimensionals mounted the bauble to the centre of my card threading some Gold Cord in and out of the bauble. Then finished this Christmas Card off with some "Home For Christmas" Enamel Dots and White Satin Ribbon with the sentiment from the "Sassy Salutations" Stamp Set.

Window Card

Good Morning Everyone, I have been wanting to try this technique for a while and it has become a very popular Christmas Card with my customers so I hope you will give it a try. I have used the new Winter Wonderland Specialty Paper from Stampin' Up!'s Christmas Catalogue. You will find the tutorial under the Tutorial Tab at the top of this page.

As I have used a window sheet photographing the card was quite a challenge.

Global Design Project #GDP010 - Sketch Challenge

I decided to think out of the square so to speak for this Sketch Challenge #GDP010 over at
The Global Design Team, you should check out all the Design Team's Creations, I'm sure you will be inspired to give the challenge a try yourself.

With this card I have used the"From Land To Sea" Stamp set and have embossed the base of the card with the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder, then using the Watercolor Wash Background Stamp as my second layer. I then sponged a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock with my daubers and the Pool Party and Island Indigo Stamp Pads before stamping the Jellyfish image from the stamp set in a shadowy effect. I then stamped the lighthouse in black and embossed it with clear embossing powder  as my embellishment in the centre of my tiled image and finishing it off with the banner punch and a sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set.

Flower Shop Card - Embossing and Sponging

I thought I would do this technique I love and haven't done it for a while, I stamped the flowers in Versamark Ink and embossed them with white embossing powder, heat set. Then I sponged the flowers using some daubers and cut them out with the corresponding punch. You can hand cut them if you prefer, I then using a bone folder curled the flowers and applied them to the card with the fine tip glue pen. I love how this gives it a 3D effect as my base cardstock is Melon Mambo then I used my "Lots of Labels" framelits to cut out the centre. Stamped my sentiment from the "Feel Goods" stamp set and embossed the top layer with Elegant Dots embossing folder. I then applied the top layer that I embossed with dimensionals to give the 3D effect!!

I would like to enter this card in two challenges today, please check both challenges out and be inspired by the cards already entered. As we are created to share our knowledge of our craft, that is how we learn from each other.

With Pinterest Challenge it is my take on all of the lovely flowers embossed by the lovely Anja, I took it one step further by sponging them once I embossed them and cut them out before adding them to my card.

Global Design Project #GDP009 Color Challenge

I would of never used these colors together as I just haven't been able to get use to the Watermelon Wonder but after making this card for  Global Design Project Color Challenge I really like these colors. You should pop on over and check out their Designers Creations I am sure you will be inspired.

I took myself out of my comfort zone and used the splatter stamp from Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set and colored the flowers using the Stamp Pads and the Blender Pen. I used my Aqua Painter to add some color at the bottom of the card with the color Tip Top Taupe and added my favourite the lovely Mint Macaron dotted lace. I colored the bird from An Open Heart Stamp Set with the Stamp Pads, Tip TopTaupe and Watermelon Wonder and a Blender Pen. I then fussy cut out the bird and layered it with dimensionals to make him pop!
